Utilit-EP
Self Titled 7" available to order NOW plus so much MORE!
Just when you thought you could get rid of us… we’re back on this fine Fortress Friday to bring you another 7” platter of pure, uncompromising, floor pounding HARDCORE music. The new self titled EP from Conericot’s own UTILITY…
There is a ton of shit to unpack on this newsletter and I’m finishing it up mad late cause I was at a legendary gig tn that I couldn’t miss: Barricade (Team Fort), Zero Mob (DMU gang), Dime (sfl rockers), BOLD (or should I say OLD), and Orange 9mm (more like that setlist was 9 songs too long). Overall was a solid gig, second time seeing BOLD this year and this show was much smaller and intimate compared to the last one, it felt special for sure. I looove Orange 9mm but I’m unc and chopped and feet were killing me, so them playing for about an hour started to wane my spirits. I also got back from FLYOVER FEST just a few days ago, gig(s) review at the end of this newsletter! And we got the first Fortress Showcase coming up next week!
The definition of “Utility” according to the Merriam Webster is “fitness for some purpose or worth to some end”. I for one believe this record’s got plenty of utility! It’s purpose being to get you off your ass, singin along and skanking to and fro. With lyrics that are urgent and pleading, but not whiney or corny.

These records are going to be available on Seaweed Green, or “Work pants” according to Mart-tility and Classic Black.

ALSO ADDITIONAL NEWS REGARDING INCARNATE… we actually went ahead and added a handful more of BONE WHITE and added a slew of Black on Classic Black that was not available last month. Important note: these are a pre-order basis (both Incarnate and Utility) but they will be arriving at HQ at the same time and will be shipping next month, if you were holding out for something new to drop to grab more than one thing now’s your chance. ALSO a ton of Fort and Collat leftovers are going to go up NEXT weekend after the showcase in SFL so if that’s something you’re into, I’d prob wait to grab a record til then unless you think you might die if you don’t get a dope colorway.

NEXT WEEK…
Richmond’s own LOSE SIGHT, is making their way down to South Florida, joining Collateral and Incarnate for the first Fortress Showcase (brought to you by Equinox Booking). Can’t wait for that gig, Collateral hasn’t gotten to play at Kelly’s Pub in SFL since it got new management that started letting shows happen again, smaller more intimate venue that’s going to be a cool change in vibe.
If you haven’t heard LOSE SIGHT click the link.. get familiar.. new songs coming soon right here at Fortress Records.. can’t wait to hear em live finally.

FLYOVER FEST RECAP
Day One:
Short anecdote: Our flight got mega delayed and then undelayed and then humbly delayed back n forth so we got to the venue like an hour or so before our set. Realized only when we landed that I had no drumsticks that werent one hit away from snapping so I took my chances walking to this mom and pop music store that happened to be a 5 min walk away, they mostly sold trumpets from what I could tell when I walked in but then I found a bucket of loose sticks being sold for $2 a stick and some actual pairs so I left okc with 4 pairs of drumsticks for 13 bucks! Shout out…
Ok as far as the first day goes, really enjoyed the Gridiron set I could watch Mully smack the kit for hours and not get tired of it. That judge set was maybe the third or fourth time Ive seen em and it was by far their best sounding and the whole room was poppin the whole time. And of course the Cold World set was legendary, I think that was my third time seeing em just this year and I couldn’t get tired of it either.
Day 2:
I feel like day one I was more stoked on the last half of the day and day two was the opposite, more stoked on the first half of the day.
Our flights were supposed to be at 4pm and that got pushed back so we got to watch more bands and then got full on cancelled so we stayed the whole night. I’m writing this from my 4th plane ride in 48 hours after sleeping at the OKC and St. Louis airports all night and morning so I’m insanely fried but do appreciate that I was able to stay and catch way more bands.
The new england rock block (If It Rains, What Counts, Neolithic) was so sick, it went by so smooth with each member swapping for the next set and it made the energy for each set unrelenting. Haven’t had a chance to catch the homies in Defcon 1 until yesterday and it was sick seeing them get such a pop off for being a band with just one demo out.
The Sissy Boys…. Idk what to say you just had to be there, my favorite set of the weekend I think, my favorite shit ever was dissing 30 year olds and tellin the youngins to run us out the pit basically (I’m 29 so I’m partially safe from this until next year..) but it did make me feel chopped AND unc, and thats what hc is all about. Youngins beating the ancient fucks at the game.
Everything in between I missed cause I was dealing with getting our flights rebooked for something less than $2000. Then Firestarter and Ozone sets were nonstop action the whole time. It’s refreshing to see bands that are not gimmicky or viral get just as much love.
Awesome weekend overall thanks everyone who came and grabbed some wares or even just came to say what’s up. Even met a few people who I recognized as fellow #poasters of the board which was dope.
Shoutout anyone who lent us gear too we were pinched!!
